As part of his time at the prestigious playwriting program at Fordham University, Billy wrote Book, Music and Lyrics to three original musicals: Wally Weasel’s G.O.P Jamboree! (A satire of politics and theme park culture), The Charlatans (A bio-fever dream about the Crouch Family of televangelists, for which he received his prized possession: his first cease and desist), and DIMES (A queer retelling of the kidnapping of Frank Sinatra Jr.). DIMES has since been developed by NY Theatre Barn and Theatre C.

In High School, Billy’s show Balloon Boy, for which he was the youngest writer ever selected for NYMF at 17, won the Thespian Musicalworks Award, which led to a workshop at the International Thespian Festival and a mentorship with Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman. Balloon Boy was also produced in a national headline making production at Monarch High School in Boulder, Colorado—only a few miles from where the Balloon Boy event actually occurred.
